Inside Baird
Welcome to Inside Baird, where we explore the people, principles, and purpose that drive our work in Private Wealth Management. I’m your host, Justin Nichols, Financial Advisor.
Justin & Max Mann, Sr. Portfolio Manager
Today, I’m joined by Max Mann, Senior Portfolio Manager of the Specialized Asset Management team. Max and I have worked closely together since I joined Baird in 2019, and I’ve had the privilege of watching his team grow from a small, focused group to managing over $6 billion in assets. His leadership, discipline, and thoughtful approach to portfolio construction have been instrumental in that success. In this episode, we’ll explore the principles that have guided Max and the team through periods of volatility and growth, and we’ll dive into topics ranging from market corrections and interest rates to the evolving impact of artificial intelligence and energy expansion in Texas.
Justin & Cory Colvin, Executive Market Director
In this episode, I'm joined by Cory Colvin, Executive Market Director for Private Wealth Management, who’s been with Baird since 2005. Cory brings nearly two decades of experience and insight into what makes Baird’s approach to wealth management truly distinctive. We’ll talk about the firm’s culture, its client-first philosophy, and what it takes to build a successful career here. Whether you’re a prospective client, a financial advisor exploring new opportunities, or simply curious about what sets Baird apart, this conversation is for you.
Justin & Lyle Fitterer, Sr. Portfolio Manager
Today, I’m honored to be joined by Lyle Fitterer, Senior Portfolio Manager of our Municipal Bonds Group. I was first introduced to Lyle by a friend of mine, Andy—a wholesaler at Wells Fargo—who told me, “You’ve got to listen to this guy. He’s the Nick Saban of municipal bonds.” That was back in 2008, during one of the most volatile periods in market history. Lyle’s short-term municipal bond fund provided not only stability, but also tax-free income and a safe haven for clients when few others existed.
Since then, Lyle has continued to be a trusted steward of client assets, and I’m grateful for the partnership we’ve built. Today, we’ll talk about his journey to Baird, the evolving municipal bond landscape, and how his team continues to find value in places others might overlook.
